Let me just start by saying: I think I met my brand match. Years ago, I was walking through the mall with my friend. We both saw the Kate Spade New York shop and immediately stopped. It was love at first site, as cheesy as it is, it's the truth. It was beautiful and stunning and amazing and intriguing all at the same time. I just remember this pink dress that looked 60's inspired, and that was just the beginning of my love story. As time has passed, I've always scoured through the shelves, ooh-ing and aw-ing at just about everything. Recently, I found one item that I just don't think I can live with out.
Kate Spade New York Book Clutch. I didn't even know these existed, because trust me, if I had, I would have owned hundreds by now. This clutch is just gorgeous. My biggest problem going places is I always want to bring my book, but I also have to bring a purse. This clutch isn't a total compromise, but this way at least I can carry whatever I need to in my clutch and look like I'm reading a book. It would be more functional for me if it was a book and a clutch, but that is an invention not yet invented for fashion and book lovers like myself. If you still can't grasp that this "book" is actually a clutch, look below. I'll admit, it took me a while, too.
As soon as I saw this item, my reaction was: I must have it. Then I looked at the price. Eek! If only! $328. Not a lot in the Kate Spade world, but a lot in my wallet. I decided I'm going to save up for it. Hard earned work all for an amazingly unique book clutch. I can't wait!

Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is one of my absolutely favorite holidays. An excuse for giving and receiving chocolate, love in the air, hearts, red, pink, it's a day where people are practically required to be nice to each other. I LOVE IT! I think it's great, so this year, I got in the spirit. Picture this, for all of you familiar with Modcloth.com, I wore one of their pieces. As shown below, this cherry dress was a huge hit! And trust me, it looks much better on.
I wore this vintage dress, with a red American Rag crop sleeve sweater. Chic! Add some red Keds, a gold compass necklace, a red hair bow, and you're good to go! And not just "good to go", but I might add fabulous as a describing adjective. :)
All in all, I went all out in the red department. A vintage, red, Valentine's Day inspired ensemble. I'd say a major success!
Although my outfit was not alone. I loved seeing people formal in their Valentine's Day wear. One teenage girl I saw with a gorgeous dutch side braid. She had woven in flowers and it looked absolutely stunning with a lavender color block dress from Forever 21. Add some black oxford heels and she was ready!
Until tomorrow!

Classy Rain
For those of us in rainy locations, and I mean constantly rainy locations, it's hard to find fitting fashions for the awful and wet weather. Today, seeing as it is almost Valentine's Day, I thought it class it up a little bit. Add in a little bit of a formal and girly aspect to my outfit today. Sheer black polka dot tights, a yellow/green color block skater skirt, blue navy knitted sweater, and RAIN BOOTS. Add on a chunky pearl necklace and bracelet and I found myself in a chic weather appropriate outfit. Well not exactly fitting for rain, but you have to always look great, and this was my compromise. Thankfully, it wasn't too cold.
For hair, I found it fitting to add in a high ballet bun with wrap around braids. Makeup consisted of light neutral toned eye shadow, gray pencil liner on the upper lid and a color block of bright yellow/green just below the eye, mascara, and gloss for the lips. This next aspect may sound strange, but I'm starting a trend, I swear. To add flare to my ensemble, I put little sparkles coming off my eyeliner. And not small, "can barely see but that looks good" sparkles, but something else entirely. If you scrapbook, and I regretfully do not, you know you can find adhesive sparkles about the size of maybe a popcorn kernel. I use these to my advantage, stick on to each side of my face so they appear to be coming out of my eyeliner, which creates a dazzling new look.
I know so far I have posted day to day outfits, which at times can be DULL. I'm uploading fashion sketches soon! Don't worry! Then you can see my creative ability come to life... or attempt to. Until tomorrow!

Overalls
Overalls. Where to start? An old fashion back from the dead, ready to hit the streets of London. I own a pair myself; I wore them today, in fact. I'd like to start by saying: OVERALLS ARE NOT MAN REPELLENT. Although they are not fitted to "flatter" you're body, they are very comfortable and, I have proven, do not ward off men. I paired my overalls today with a blue baseball tee from American Eagle, a worn out pair of Keds, a high ponytail, and sheer polka dot tights. A trending outfit no doubt because the first time I sported this ensemble, several followed my example in the days to come. Many fear this clothing piece because of the earlier noted suspicion. I assure you, the compliments were heavy from the opposite sex. I encourage you to be brave! Try this item of clothing! Who knows how much longer it will stay "in-style".

Beginnings
Everything begins with a beginning, and this is mine. On this blog, I'm not entirely certain on what I'll be doing. I'm hoping to share some of my fashion with all of you. Show some outfits, designed pieces, recommended brands, hairstyles and makeup to tie it all together, and maybe even some of the original sketches I've created. We'll see where this goes, but this certainly is the beginning of something great. Welcome to Silhouette Styles!
